Another first time venue for us – Campbelltown RSL, unfortunately it was at the beginning of Covid 19 which we now know has affected all industries and many lives in some pretty heavy ways.
We played at Campbelltown RSL in the main auditorium downstairs ( the old one used to be upstairs – which is now an all you can eat restaurant)
The show was booked by the lovely Shayne O’Leary from Illegally Blonde – Social Media Marketing agency and Entertainment booking agency. Shayne is so great to deal with, such a pro, thanks Shayne!
The line up for this gig at Campbelltown RSL featured the one and only Aussie music legend on keyboards for us – Sam McNally.
Sam has recorded and toured with the one and only Tim Finn on his Escapade album and subsequent tours.
Sam’s own jazz -rock band Stylus is well known amongst jazz-pop freaks and he has also played with the who’s who of Aussie music legends including John Farnham, Air Supply, Tommy Emmanuel and US legends Seals n Croft.
So without a doubt it’s an honour to play with Sam in The Crowdies Show whenever our schedules allow it.
We had fun at this gig with some memorable singalongs and some crazy audience banter and the odd bit of storytelling.
Given the burgeoning Covid-19 situation we were blessed to have a nice intimate seated audience who certainly danced and partied liked they ought to before and real restrictions were imposed at this time.
The Campbelltown locals particularly enjoyed us taking the mickey out of the competing suburb for our forthcoming show (Toongabbie) – which unfortunately never happened due to Covid 🙁
I remember the Campbelltown audience were very vocal, actually engaging in our banter and some were so full of praise afterwards and in fact we got a few nice facebook reviews from this show.
Some burly blokes were quite vocal but totally kind hearted – but at least they didn’t demand we play Horses or Khe Sahn, they are too cool for that.
However if they did ask we’d probably play what they wanted as you don’t mess with those Campbelltown people!
