We’ve been playing Mingara Recreation Club on the good ole Central Coast for exactly 12 years now!
Usually at least once a year in summer time we do a free show in the main lounge.
Its a fantastically professional club with great staff who are always accomodating and we love the elevators for the load in and load out!
The lounge stage is a nice size for a band with a huge dance floor.
Mingara being a huge organisation always promote live shows very well in their club newsletter which of course reaches a huge broad public.
So we get a wide age range of people turn up. The lounge has sea of comfortable chairs so members and guests are very happy to come to these shows and sit and rest between the dance songs and the pop ballads we play.
We’ve shot lots of footage at these Mingara gigs as the dance floor lends it self to being quite packed and furious especially surfing the upbeat and poppy Enz tunes.
Our main overview clip on the home page – the footage of ‘Six Months In A Leaky Boat’ and of ‘I see Red’ are shot at Mingara gigs.
We also have a few ‘Mingers’ (as the locals call it) clips on our youtube channel.
If you check out some of the youtube clips, you’ll catch some of the whacky banter times we have with the audiences there.
Those Central Coast folk are good ole Aussie heartland people, who are especially lighthearted and never take themselves too seriously.
We recommend a visit to the club to catch a show, the music is always high quality and the club has multiple restaurants and also some quick easy food options and a rad cafe.
After this gig we always leave in high spirits. I recall after this night our young keys player Aiden Danser told me he chatted in the carpark with our amazing ( more senior) guitarist Bruno Gerace about the ins and outs of show business and stage craft for 70 mins straight!
Mingara recreation club audiences always make us leave on a high – the people that come to see The Crowdies play are just so appreciative and into it – rock n roll will never die!
