Avalon Beach RSL – Another new venue for us booked as an Australia Day weekend show.
Cristo Tracy and the staff from Avalon Beach RSL treated us like stars.
A nice dressing room area, some great club pizza and too many drink vouchers made us feel especially welcome for a first gig here.
We had the versatile Alexie Pigot on drums (he also plays bass with us), Bruno Gerace on guitar, Fabian Bethuizeau on Bass and ole Cole Stein on the keys. With our favourite soundy – Big Jason running the rig and making us sound great.
The venue did a great job with using our online image files to create a great A- frame poster outside the venue as well as promo banners throughout the venue.
The upstairs bar where we played is a great band room with classic old booths along one side of the room and a nice bar on the back left side.
It is always an honour to play at classic Australian venues such as this one who used to have INXS, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, Moving Pictures and a raft of other classic Aussie bands play on Wed, Thu, Fri nights back in the day.
Australia Day weekend in 2020 had the public holiday fall on the Mon 26th so it naturally made for a long weekend and a good opportunity for people to leave town and go on holiday, so it was a little quieter than we’re used to.
Though those that were there danced and sung and thanked and praised us profusely and made us feel so grateful.
Grateful to play music for a living in this beautiful city of Sydney and have the opportunity to play the same venues as some of our heroes once did.
Thanks Cristo and Avalon RSL, hope to see you again!
