Another double header away weekend for the band. The first stop – Shelly Beach Golf Club.

In the NSW January heat long drives, hanging with the band and overnight stays are always a good excuse to have fun, even though we’re technically ‘working’.

The line up for this gig featured the affable Alexie Pigot on Bass, Alex Quayle on Drums, Vince Leong on Guitar with Aiden Danser on keys.
One of my fav line ups of super hot players.

Jason our sound guy from Jagos Productions was at Shelly Beach Golf Club super early setting up his huge old school analog rig inside the club this time.
We all had fine meals and were looked after well by the staff at the club.

Last time here we played Xmas Eve on a great outdoor stage to a huge family audience in the early evening.
So comparatively this show was more loungey low key affair.

The room was full of early evening diners, but were were also happy to see that our paid facebook ad had worked and pulled a few Crowdies fans from the local Central Coast area.

It was a great show with some fun banter with the audience.
Our sartorial antics always take the people that have never seen us before by an equal measure of surprise, curiosity and laughs, exactly as is our intention with our wacky wiggles-esque Enz suits.

I did my classic ‘would you like to see under my wig’ build-up and had the audience playing along begging to see my bald head which I dutifully revealed to a mixture of cheers and bemusement from those that cared or noticed.

The dance floor was cranking, the drinks were flowing and we had a great gig.

Pack down & load out was followed by some after gig drinks with the bands resident philosopher Alexie Pigot holding court vamping at a million miles an hour to a somewhat amused & bemused guitarists wife and others.

The topics on which he expounded ranged from racism to others I just cannot recall right now.

However always the entertainer Alexie continued to hold court after we were all ushered out due to the club closing.

So for at least another 30 minutes under the old Norfolk pine tree in the carpark Alexie serenaded us with his enthusiastic notions whilst Jason the soundy was loading the last of the gear into his van.

Alexie is the kind of player who stays up very very late, no need to go home straight after the show.

Eventually we all bid farewell and made loose plans to meet for breakfast or at the next gig the next day.

The next gig would be better as some of us were staying overnight so we knew we could relax a little more.

The best result from this gig was that we were immediately rebooked by the club for a return date later in the year.

This makes all the driving and gear lugging totally worthwhile, see you soon Shelly Beach!
